The Heartland Runner is for people who run at 12:00/mile or 7:00/mile and don't think the difference matters as much as showing up. Slow runners. Walk-runners. People doing C25K in their forties. People who finished a half marathon and are deciding whether they want to do another one.
We cover training plans that work around a 40-hour job, shoes that don't require a podiatrist's opinion, gels that don't ruin your day, and the small-town 5ks that make a Saturday morning feel like a small victory. We write about NW Ohio races (HHH 5k, Findlay Trail Run, the Hancock Park District series), beginner gear under $150, and what to actually expect when you sign up for your first race.
We exist to get more people running in the heartland โ and to fund Making Miles Matter, which runs the Hancock Horizontal Hundred weekend and puts every dollar back into local outdoor programs.
