The Heartland Pilgrim is for people whose faith and footsteps belong to the same life. Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox, anyone walking with God โ this is a quiet corner of the internet for the practice of pilgrimage, the discipline of walking prayer, and the books that have shaped how Christians have moved through the world for two thousand years.
We cover pilgrimage routes (the Camino, but also American routes โ the Way of St. James of Atlanta, the Trail of Tears Cherokee Heritage Trail, the El Camino Real de los Tejas), walking-prayer practices, lectio with the feet, the Liturgy of the Hours kept on a hike, and the gear that makes a long walk feel like a sacrament instead of a slog.
We exist for the slower kind of reader. Cross-denominational, theologically generous, never preachy. Funds Making Miles Matter, which runs the Hancock Horizontal Hundred and supports local outdoor access regardless of creed.
